OUTSIDE THE GREENHOUSE
We have 33 different varieties of mums that are setting buds but won't be showing color until about mid-September. We have a rainbow of colors including white, yellow, orange, bronze, red, purple, pink and bi-colors. We also have asters and flowering kale, as well as some beautiful coneflowers, shrubs, and perennials.
New this year is the Intenz Celosia, which is an annual but it would add a refreshing spot of color in beds that have lost their color.
INSIDE THE GREENHOUSE
We have a wide selection of succulents and houseplants available, as well as impatiens and other annuals for fall color.
FALL VEGETABLE GARDENS
You can now begin to plant your fall vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, radishes, spinach, turnips, mustard and other greens. Click here for more information, as well as Annie Colovich's Wichita's Gardeners Almanac from August 15th. Make sure you check with Botanica regarding their upcoming events as some of the events listed have already happened.
PLANT A ROW FOR THE HUNGRY
Plant a Row for the Hungry is rooted in the tradition of sharing a bountiful garden harvest with others. It is a people-helping-people program for home gardeners to help the hungry in their own communities.
The cooperative effort between the Sedgwick County Master Gardeners and the Kansas Food Bank is making it possible for the individual home gardener to make a tremendous impact on the widespread hunger problem in Kansas. During the growing season, the Kansas Food Bank will pick up your produce from local garden centers which have volunteered to serve as convenient drop-off sites.
One pound at a time…one row at a time. Together we make a difference
